Revolutionizing Healthcare Operations: Naomi Rajput's Vision for an AI-Powered Future
In conversation with Naomi Rajput
Naomi Rajput is on a mission to redefine patient care and healthcare operations. As a neuroscience student at Northeastern University, Naomi brings both frontline clinical experience and entrepreneurial drive to her work. From assisting in medical practices to gaining firsthand exposure at a digital health startup, she has witnessed the inefficiencies that plague the healthcare system—and she's determined to solve them.
Together with co-founder Evan Smith, Rajput launched Eden to tackle one of healthcare's most persistent challenges: administrative burden. Their solution? An intuitive, AI-powered platform designed to streamline workflows, reduce burnout, and enhance the patient-provider experience.
Q: What was the initial inspiration behind creating Eden, and could you share a bit about your background?
A: I am a student at Northeastern studying neuroscience on the pre-med track. During my first co-op internship, I worked as a medical assistant and front office staff at a medical practice in Cambridge. During my time there, I saw a lot of administrative inefficiencies—patients frustrated over long wait times only to find out their insurance wasn't accepted or their doctor was booked out.
I kept thinking, "We're living in the age of AI. Why am I manually doing all of this?" I started exploring solutions and realized the problem was big enough to solve but wasn’t being addressed effectively.
I also worked at a digital health startup, which exposed me to entrepreneurship. My former boss was instrumental in this journey—she let me sit in on meetings with VCs and other influential people. I soaked it all in, learning a lot about business while still in a medical role.
When my co-founder reached out, he was working on a similar idea but needed someone with a medical background. Our first call was three hours long, and I told him, "What you're working on is great, but we can solve a bigger problem." That led to brainstorming, long conversations, and user interviews, which eventually evolved into Eden.

Q: What’s your favorite feature of Eden, and how does it fit into the broader digital health ecosystem?
A: My favorite part is that Eden isn’t just a point solution. Many existing tools solve small parts of the admin problem, but they don’t address the full scope, leading to what I call "point solution fatigue." Doctors are stuck juggling multiple systems for different issues, which is exhausting.
Eden is all-encompassing, automating everything from intake forms to patient communication. It’s designed for physicians, admin staff, and patients, not just one group. For example, instead of digitizing forms, we automate them—making the process seamless. Plus, the UI is intuitive and visually appealing. It's efficient, beautiful, and not clunky.
Q: What populations of providers are you most excited about seeing use Eden?
A: Right now, we’re focused on primary care private practices—family physicians and internal medicine—because they deal with high patient volumes and constant staff turnover. Eden can make a real difference for them by streamlining workflows and reducing stress.
Long-term, we want Eden to be a household name across specialties. The goal is to connect primary care with specialty practices, making healthcare systems more connected. For example, with Eden, you won’t need three phone calls to get a referral to a dermatologist—it’s all connected in one ecosystem.
Q: What’s been the most rewarding feedback you’ve received about Eden?
A: One standout piece of feedback is how much more efficient Eden makes practices. For instance, in an upcoming pilot, the practice has been struggling with high call volumes and understaffing. With Eden, instead of staff handling 20 calls, they’ll handle only the two high-priority ones, while the AI manages repetitive tasks like collecting basic patient information.
Staff can focus on meaningful interactions, and patients benefit from quicker, more personalized care.
Q: What trends in healthcare are you most excited about for 2025?
A: I’m thrilled about the mass adoption of AI across industries, including healthcare. For instance, I’ve seen physicians using AI-powered note-taking apps in patient rooms. Instead of staring at a screen, they can focus on the patient while the AI generates summaries.
People often think technology takes away from the human experience, but I believe it can bring us back to it when done right. With solutions like Eden, front office staff can greet patients warmly instead of drowning in paperwork.
Q: What advice would you give to students interested in entrepreneurship?
A: Be curious and intentional with your time. That doesn’t mean being productive 24/7—find your balance. But if you’re passionate about something, don’t hesitate to dive in.
For me, that meant skipping some social events to read up on topics I cared about or saying yes to opportunities others might overlook. Do what feels right for you—not what you think you’re supposed to do.
